Ghostbusters 3 gets caught in a pool of slime and contracts

JoBloJoBlo

For a while there, it seemed like GHOSTBUSTERS 3 was really on its way to becoming reality, with a script commissioned and already undergoing a second draft. But have the ectoplasm gatherers hit a snag?

According to Vulture, Sony wants to inject some young blood behind the camera, like they’re doing with Marc Webb on SPIDER-MAN. The problem facing the studio is that original director Ivan Reitman apparently has complete control of who takes over, assuming he doesn’t handle the spook-shooters himself.

In fact, there’s even more to it — reportedly, Reitman along with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis “have a deal that says that if any of the four of them don’t like any element of a new GHOSTBUSTERS, they can singlehandedly veto and kill the project; it has to be unanimously approved before going forward.”

And considering that Murray recently told David Letterman that a third movie was “just crazy talk” and his “nightmare”, the proton packs might be staying in storage for a while. Unless that script by “The Office” writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is irresistible…
