A few details on the third Riddick flick

JoBloJoBlo

For years we’ve heard rumblings that smooth-headed night-visioned intergalactic badass Riddick would return for a third adventure (not counting his animated DVD and excellent videogame exploits), and now it’s officially becoming a reality.

But while PITCH BLACK kept things grounded and CHRONICLES blew things out to bombastic levels, where will RIDDICK 3 land? A recent THR article, discussing how Russia thinks the property is hotter than the bright side of Crematoria, gives a few bites of the general direction star Vin Diesel and director David Twohy are going.

The new RIDDICK is described as a “back-to-basics approach to the character”, and “the script features the character — the most wanted man in the galaxy — left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with ‘trisons’ (three-legged bisons) and ‘mud demons.’ He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.”

Sounds like it could end up straddling the line between the blade-and-teacup-wielding space bastard’s past two flicks. With luck, they’ll also find a way to bring back Nick Chinlund’s gruff mercenary Toombs.
