Outland remake

JoBloJoBlo

The remake rocket launches into the cosmos with an update of OUTLAND, Peter Hyam’s 1981 sci-fi flick featuring Sean Connery as a deep space lawman.

Warner Bros. has handed the new version to SHOOT ‘EM UP director Michael Davis, who says “We’re staying true to the thematic heart of ‘Outland’ while expanding the space frontier concept.”

The original was also a slow burn, although we probably shouldn’t expect similar pacing and subtlety from the guy who put Clive Owen in gunfights while he was plummeting from an airliner and giving Monica Bellucci the meat dazzler.

The original OUTLAND (basically HIGH NOON in space) starred Connery as a Marshal assigned to a mining colony on Jupiter’s moon Io, where he uncovers a drug trade and finds himself the target of an assassination squad. Get a taste of Betamax-era space thrills below.
