Shankman’s Sinbad

JoBloJoBlo

It’s time for swashbuckling Middle Eastern sailor SINBAD to take a new adventure, and who better to bring it to life than the director of… THE PACIFIER?

Adam Shankman is boarding that ship, developing and directing THE 8th VOYAGE OF SINBAD for Columbia and producer / noisemaker Neal Moritz (STEALTH, XXX).

This time, the scimitar-wielding Sinbad take a grand voyage in eighth-century China on a quest to find the Lamp of Aladdin (obnoxious blue genie not included). Along the way they encounter a gorgeous empress, battle huge CG monsters, and tangle with a supernatural Chinese general.

If this sounds somewhat familiar, it’s because Rob Cohen (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR) was previously set to direct the project, with none other than Keanu Reeves as the Arabian adventurer and stop-motion FX godfather Ray Harryhausen as creative consultant.

Now we get the guy behind BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE, CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2 and the impending BEDTIME STORIES. I think I’ll just dig out the old Harryhausen flicks.
