I love the whole “guys on a mission” subgenre, so it’s no small thrill that Sly Stallone is assembling his own DIRTY DOZEN-style flick filled with familiar faces.
For Stallone’s movie THE EXPENDABLES (which he’s also writing and directing), he’s already rounded up action figures Jet Li, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren for a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a malevolent South American dictator.
Now according to AICN, he’s added another guy who knows something about fisticuffs: former (continuing?) UFC brawler Randy Couture, also seen recently on screens of various size in REDBELT and the direct-to-DVD SCORPION KING sequel.
AICN also claims that Forest Whitaker is now part of the project, and says that Jet and Dolph will throw down in some capacity (Li and Statham already faced off in WAR).
Stallone already danced around similar themes with the surprisingly awesome RAMBO — let’s hope he keeps wandering the video store shelves looking for further casting ideas.
