In the years since Pixar’s first smash success, studios have been trying to bottle similar lightning, resulting in a seemingly endless series of interchangeable CG-animated flicks with talking animals.
It’s nice to see the Burton-esque IGOR breaking that mold, with some intriguingly macabre character designs. The movie follows a mad scientist’s hunchbacked assistant who yearns to conduct his own outlandish experiments rather than just pull switches. John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, Eddie Izzard, Jay Leno and John Cleese throw vocals for the fun-looking freakshow.
