A few days ago we told you about Kiwi-Beard Peter Jackson teaming up with 3D animator and one-time Halo film adaptation Messiah Neill Blomkamp to create an original epic sci fi adventure titled DISTRICT 9, after HALO was thrown violently into the flaming pit of production hell. Jackson and Blomkamp, as every other filmmaker on the planet, recently took the pitch to the American Film Market and it was impressive enough for Sony to plop down low to middle eight figures for the right to distribute the film in all English-language territories (including North America), Russia, Italy, Korea and Portugal. No details are currently known on the film’s story. We just know WETA will of course be handling the visual effects and it could give James Cameron’s own epic sci fi adventure AVATAR a run for its money.
