Paul Haggis, having introduced us to the dark underbelly of racism seeding in all of us with the Oscar-winning dramatic tour-de-force CRASH, exposes the dark truths of the Iraq-based War on Terror in the upcoming tour-de-double-force IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH. The narrative through which he enlightens us all involves a career officer Tommy Lee Jones, along with his wife (Susan Sarandon) and a police detective (Charlize Theron), investigating the mysterious disappearance of his son following his return from a tour of Iraq. The film’s official site is ACTIVE and though it’s, as of now, just barely in the embryonic stages of development, the inescapable human truths contained therein are already palpable. The film opens September 21st.
