We're only three weeks away from the release of THE FIRST PURGE, a prequel to the PURGE franchise, and that means it's time for a little extra marketing push – like the release of multiple posters focused on the masked creeps that will be rampaging through the streets on this Purge Night.

Written by THE PURGE creator James DeMonaco, who directed the first film and the sequels THE PURGE: ANARCHY and THE PURGE ELECTION YEAR, THE FIRST PURGE tells the following story:

Behind every tradition lies a revolution.  Next Independence Day, witness the rise of our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness.  Welcome to the movement that began as a simple experiment: The First Purge.

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community.  But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.

DeMonaco handed over directorial duties to Gerard McMurray this time around. The film stars Marisa Tomei, Chyna Layne, Lex Scott Davis, Luna Lauren Velez, Melonie Diaz, Mo McRae, and Y'lan Noel, along with the masks you can see on the posters below.

A prequel is exactly what I thought should be made after ELECTION YEAR, which appeared to show the end of the Purge event, so I'm totally on board for this movie.

THE FIRST PURGE arrives in theatres on July 4th.
