The Predator Shane Black

It's only been one month since the first trailer for THE PREDATOR, director Shane Black's sequel to the 1987 sci-fi action classic PREDATOR, was released online, but now a second trailer is here already. While the first one set up the story, this one is more focused on the action the film will have to offer, and it shows more of the character viewers are going to be there to see, the Predator itself. There's even a glimpse of some Predator vs. Predator action in there, and while that's something we've seen before (in PREDATORS), this film appears to be taking the idea of Predators fighting each other to a whole new level.

Black wrote THE PREDATOR with his THE MONSTER SQUAD collaborator Fred Dekker, and the pair crafted the following story:

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

Boyd Holbrook, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen, Augusto Aguilera, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Edward James Olmos, and Jake Busey star. Busey is playing the son of the character his father played in PREDATOR 2.

Predators fighting other Predators, especially genetically modified "Mega-Predators", is not something I was ever jonesing to see, but I'm still looking forward to THE PREDATOR and hoping it will be a fun time.

The film is scheduled to reach theatres on September 14th.
