Johnny Depp is being surrounded by hotties in his next film (no surprise there, I suppose). The first female cast opposite Depp in his strange sci-fi pic TRANSCENDENCE was the lovely Rebecca Hall (former podcast guest!). Now, Deadline is reporting Kate Mara, sister to Rooney, will join Depp, Hall and Paul Bettany in the film, which marks the directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister (INCEPTION).

Unsurprisingly, this Christopher Nolan-produced pic is shrouded in secrecy, but what we do know is that it revolves around a scientist whose brain is uploaded into a computer after he’s murdered by anti-technology terrorists. Such mind-bending notions as singularity, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence are believed to figure into the plot heavily.

It’s believed that Rebecca Hall will play Depp’s wife, but Mara’s role is a mystery right now. Expect the mystery to continue throughout the year.

Principal photography is set to begin in April in Los Angeles. It’s set to be distributed by Warner Bros. on April 25, 2014.
