TWC pegs The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes for a 2014 release?

It’s been well over a year since learning that TWC had delayed the release of the scantily known about AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES. At the time of the move, the flick was originally poised to hit screens on January 27, 2012. Of course, that never went down. But now, according to BOM, a new date for the LOST flick has been assigned…

And that date is January 3, 2014. That’s right, 2014! Who knows what the delay is for, but one could clearly write and shoot a whole new movie between now and the time of release. Does this mean reshoots are in order? Not a clue.

As for the synopsis for the flick, we’re a bit more enlightened:

An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror … only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.

Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands wrote the script for the flick, yet we’re still unsure as to who’s directing. Jason Blum (of Blumhouse) is producing, so says BOM.

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES drops January 3, 2014.
