Matt Reeves, meet your new screenwriter…

Two and a half weeks after learning the LET ME IN director will helm DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES for Fox, we now know who’ll be banging hard on the keys. According to THR, WOLVERINE scribe Mark Bomback will work on DAWN, in essence retooling a draft by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa (writers of the well received 2011 remake). Makes sense I guess, as Bomback actually did uncredited polish work on RISE. As for DAWN, Andy Serkis will reprise his role as the conflicted simian Caesar, with the flick due May 23, 2014.

Not much is known about DAWN, other than it’ll continue where we left off in the last flick; Caesar presiding over the fall of human civilization. This Bomback fella has a few high profile scripts to his name, he wrote LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD as well as the TOTAL RECALL remake. He also wrote UNSTOPPABLE, RACE TO WTICH MOUNTAIN, DECEPTION, GODSEND and THE NIGHT CALLER. A decent resume, even with his fair share of remakes and sequels.

All things considered, you dig the hire?

Now there’s one Pinto I’d happily give a ride!
