You guys remember back in 2010 when we told you how the classic 1970s horror comics CREEPY and EERIE were getting picked up for big screen adaptations? Well we’ve finally got some news on that shite!
Coming at us from The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog we’ve got super-producer Chris Columbus in line to produce a big-screen retooling of CREEPY! Not only will Columbus be producing through his 1492 production banner, but he’ll also be penning and directing one of the segments in the film! But I’m getting a little ahead of myself.
You see it seems this new CREEPY will be a horror anthology that gives us four tales of terror. Each tale will be written and directed by a different filmmaker, hence Columbus being named the first. I wonder who else will make the cut…
Creepy was an American horror comic magazine put out by Warren Publishing from 1964-83. It featured work by some of the top artists and writers of the era with covers by master fantasy illustrators like Frank Frazetta. Contributors included Spider-man artist Steve Ditko, Bernie Wrightson, Gene Colan, Richard Corben, Al Williamson and Wally Wood.
