Before I even get into MONSTER PROBLEMS let me hit you all with the description we’re given for this one: A post-apocalyptic road movie in the vein of Mad Max and Zombieland with a John Hughes-esque love story at its center.
Let that sink in for a second.
Seriously? That sounds pretty damn awesome. The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog just dropped word on this insanely intriguing project along with the news that Paramount are currently in negotiations to pick up Brian Duffield’s spec script for MONSTER PROBLEMS with Shawn Levy (right) and his 21 Laps banner in line to produce. I can dig that.
Now unfortunately we don’t know much about the plot aside from that description I just hit you all with but we do know the deal is looking to be in the low-against-mid six figure range. Billy Rosenberg and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps would oversee the project if all goes according to plan, which most likely will.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed MONSTER PROBLEMS turns out to be something solid and as soon as more news on this one rolls our way we’ll be right here to pass it to all of you.
