It’s probably safe to say that this will not turn out like BEASTLY

SILENT HILL and BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF helmer Christophe Gans (pictured) has committed to make BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with France’s Eskwad and Pathé producing. Gans, who hasn’t made a film since SILENT HILL (which came out in 2006), will write as well.

Flick will star Vincent Cassel and Léa Seydoux. The former you’re of course familiar with, the latter is a popular French actress only now making an impression on Hollywood with turns in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS.

There isn’t really the need for a synopsis, is there? Well, in case you need it: Through her great capacity to love, a kind and beautiful maid releases a handsome prince from the spell which has made him an ugly beast.

With Gans at the helm, there’s little doubt that we can expect an unique and quite possibly disturbing take on the timeless tale.

Production is slated to start this October.
