Some brief release date news for y’all: Summit Entertainment has given a few of their genre projects release dates, so you can start planning accordingly.

First up is SINISTER, the found footage horror effort from Scott Derrickson. The film will be unveiled on AUGUST 24, 2012.

For a refresher on the plot, Ethan Hawke plays a journalist who travels with his family around the country to investigate gruesome murders he turns into books. After he moves his family into a house where another family was murdered, the journo discovers found footage that unveils horrifying clues beyond what caused the original tragedy.

Meanwhile, the zombie romance tale WARM BODIES, starring Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich, and Nicholas Hoult, will come out a few weeks earlier, on AUGUST 10, 2012.

WARM BODIES’ plot: R is a young man with an existential crisis–he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, noidentity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and stragely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.

Oh, and if you’re one of those people who have been pining for an adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s ENDER’S GAME, Summit has given the flick – to be directed by Gavin Hood – a MARCH 13, 2013 date. You’ve got a while to prepare…
