Some of my all time favorite comedy movies are from the new-age comedic troupe Broken Lizard. Now I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you genre hardcores were familiar with the name because they happen to be the group that brought us the 2004 comedy slasher CLUB DREAD.
Now unfortunately CLUB DREAD is considered one of Broken Lizard’s worst films but personally I had a blast with it and love the thing to this day. So it should come as no surprise to anyone that I’m stoked to hear one-fifth of Broken Lizard are getting involved in our beloved genre once again!
I’m talking about the first announced film of the 2012 batch of After Dark Originals: DARK CIRCLES. Broken Lizard alumn Paul Soter (above) has already been tapped with the task of directing. Check out the synopsis for DARK CIRCLES:
Urbanites Alex and Penny escape their stuffy city life to raise their newborn in the country. Instead, they find their spacious farmhome harbors horrors that threaten their relationship, imperil their son, and drive them to acts that neither believed they were capable of, but both are powerless to stop.
Sounds like we’ve got some potential! DARK CIRCLES already has a cast that includes Pell James (below), Jonathan Schaech, Philippe Brenninkmeyer, Andrea Frankle and Michael Patrick Rogers.
Hopefully some more news on DARK CIRCLES will spill our way soon considering this is all we’ve really got. You can bet as soon any news on this little diddy comes our way we’ll shoot that shite right along to all of you.
