I woke up this morning and instead of getting into a tizzy over all this Hurricane Irene stuff do you know what the first thought that crossed my mind was? ‘Man we need another GRUDGE film!’ Of course that’s not true at all. But alas it seems to be happening!
According to the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting Ghost House Pictures and Mandate are indeed moving forward with another remake/reboot of the hit Japanese horror. Unfortunately that’s about all we know on this very unnecessary project. Hell we don’t even know if this will go theatrical or be a straight-to-video release, though my money is on the latter. I wouldn’t put it past Takashi Shimizu directing this one either, considering he has directed most of the previous films in the franchise.
A mysterious and vengeful spirit marks and pursues anybody who dares enter the house in which it resides.
That’s the basic rundown for JU-ON: THE GRUDGE and it’s US remake THE GRUDGE. Let’s not talk about the franchise’s ongoing barage of sequels, shall we?
I suppose someone should tell Ghost House Pictures and Mandate that the whole Japanese horror remake craze has been over for a while now, hopefully before this thing gains any momentum.

THE GRUDGE’s Sarah Michelle Gellar
