Oldboy remake not quite dead; Spike Lee now circling the project?!

You read that right folks. For a project we thought was dead in the water it seems things are stirring up once again for that Hollywood OLDBOY adaptation. I say adaptation because previous reports indicate the film would be based on the source material and not Park Chan-wook’s classic film. So how in the world did Spike Lee get involved? Check it.

At one point Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were both on board this very project, but obviously things fell through. Whether that’s a good thing or not, we’ll never know. But now the guys over at Twitch Film are reporting that none other than Spike Lee is now circling the project to direct. Well that shite came straight out of left field, didn’t it?

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’d rather see Spielberg tackling this shite rather than Lee, that’s to say if I’d like to see this thing made at all. I’m sure most of you are with me in saying this adaptation just isn’t needed. But alas if there’s money to be made, Hollywood will find a way.

Now mind you this news has yet to be confirmed, as is the case with whether or not Smith might still be attached. As always as soon as we get more OLDBOY news rolling our way we’ll be sure to pass the good word along to all of you.
