Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried on the run in first pics from Now

First things first: Once carrying the ungainly title “I’m.mortal”, the Andrew Niccol-directed sci-fi brain twister on display here is apparently currently called NOW, if we’re to believe The Wrap. With that out of the way, here we have the first on-set pics from the film, depicting Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried looking bruised, tired, and on the run from unseen assailants. (Most likely the villainous “time-keeper”, Cillian Murphy). The flick is now shooting in L.A.; although based on Seyfried’s look, I thought they were filming THE EMMA STONE STORY. Guess it’s too early for that.

Not too sure about Timberlake as the lead in a sci-fi flick, but I’m still intrigued by Niccol, who has tantalized with a few hits (GATTACA, THE TRUMAN SHOW screenplay) and disappointed with a few misses (SIM0NE, LORD OF WAR).

Set in the not-too-distant future, the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality.

Storyline follows a rebel from the ghetto (Timberlake) who is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, and goes on the run with a beautiful hostage (Seyfried).

The cast is rounded out by Olivia Wilde (below), Johnny Galecki, and Vincent Kartheiser. NOW will release in 2012.
