I love me a good creature feature. But I’m not talking about something like WRONG TURN or SLITHER. Those are awesome in their own right, but when I say creature feature I’m talking something like SWAMP THING or ABOMINABLE! I want to watch some huge monster f*ck shit up!
So with that being said, it’s no surprise that this new project coming our way has snatched this guy’s interest! According to the guys over at The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, we’ve got a creature feature heading our way from Fred M. Andrews called LOCKJAW! So what’s the deal with LOCKJAW? Check it:
A group of family and friends who, en route to New Orleans, are sidetracked in the Louisiana bayou encounter a monster named Lockjaw, who is revered by the locals as a god.
Sounds like ‘Swamp Thing’ meets HATCHET’s ‘Victor Crowley!’ Nice! Let’s just hope this one doesn’t come too close to HATCHET though… We want ourselves a badass monster, not a ‘Victor Crowley’ ripoff. The Heat Vision blog also have a number of names joining the cast for LOCKJAW including “True Blood’s” Mehcad Brooks, Serinda Swan (below), Daniel Bernhardt, Amanda Fuller, Dillon Casey, Lauren Schneider and genre badass Sid Haig (above)! A nice cast of youngsters to watch get torn apart by ‘Lockjaw?’ Seems like it!
Bernhardt will star in the film as ‘Lockjaw’ while Brooks plays ‘a Navy Seal back from the Middle East with Swan playing his fiancee, who is abducted to be the creature’s bride.’ Haig will star as a character named ‘Chopper.’
Fred M. Andrews both wrote and will be directing the project, which comes from Bubble Factory and is set to start filming tomorrow in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one so be sure to check back soon for updates!
