I know what you guys are all wondering. What’s going on with David Hackl? Well I’m here today to tell you!
Before I get to that though, let me give you all a refresher as to what Mr. Hackl has been up to. After helming arguably the worst SAW flick in the franchise, SAW V, Hackl was then in line to direct SAW VII aka SAW 3D. But when SAW VI director Kevin Greutert was planning on jumping ship to the world of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY Lionsgate quickly swooped in and pulled some contracts out that forced Greutert back into the director’s chair for SAW VII. So where did that leave Hackl?
Pretty much nowhere. Hackl, after already beginning pre-production on SAW VII, was left out in the cold thanks to all that drama. Well according to Production Weekly’s Twitter account Mr. Hackl now has a project to concentrate on!
David Hackl attached to direct J.R. Reher’s adaptation of the horror novel “The Butcher Bride” by Vince Churchill.
Alright, so you’ve never heard of THE BUTCHER BRIDE either? Let me school you all on what this one is about:
Thirty years ago…
… a depraved assault during a Halloween costume ball shattered a young woman’s mind, turning her into a brutal mass murderer. Dressed in her rival’s blood-soaked wedding gown, the legend of the Butcher Bride was born.
Now, decades later…
… everyone who enters the Silas Mansion will discover a frightening spirit ravenous to satisfy perverse appetites. Death is the only escape.
Not too shabby huh? That actually sounds like something that has the potential to be deliciously twisted! Oh wait… David Hackl is directing… nevermind.
Am I being too harsh? THE BUTCHER BRIDE sounds pretty wicked so I’m going to go ahead and give Hackl the benefit of the doubt here. What about you guys? Any opinions on David Hackl directing THE BUTCHER BRIDE? Hit us with your thoughts below and keep it here for more as we hear it!
