One name that was a decent part of my childhood would be Mr. R.L. Stine. The guy is like the ‘Stephen King for kids.’ He’s behind the popular ‘Goosebumps’ franchise as well as ‘Fear Street’ and countless others. I’m sure most of you know exactly who I’m talking about, right? Of course you do. Well did you know R.L. Stine was still at it? That’s news to me but definitely something that catches my interest!

I’m talking about Stine’s latest novel: THE SITTER. Now I’m not here to talk about Stine’s novel, but rather the film on it’s way based on Stine’s novel! Variety recently dropped word that Furst Films have just scored the rights to THE SITTER, which centers on a young woman who takes a summer job as a nanny to a 4-year-old who hasn’t spoken for months and is seemingly haunted by something too horrible for words. Too horrible for words huh? Well that’s intriguing…

Anyone out there have a chance to read THE SITTER? Is this one anything special or is it the same as all those other young adult novels? How come I’m getting the feeling this one is going to go the tween PG-13 route? We shall see. Sean and Bryan Furst are producing along with Yvonne Bernard and Beth Hawk. Stine will be executive producing along with Jane Stine and Ann Blanchard. We’ll keep you updated on THE SITTER news as we hear it but in the meantime you can PICK UP THE BOOK NOW!
