Screenwriter Kevin Williamson is pretty busy with that fourth SCREAM film everybody is talking about… but what about after that? Well he’ll be tackling SCREAM 5 and SCREAM 6 of course… but what about something that isn’t SCREAM?
Williamson chatted with MTV recently where he spilled the news on another project he’s currently attached to: THE BEDROOM WINDOW, a remake of the Curtis Hanson’s 1987 film. Williamson explains what THE BEDROOM WINDOW will be about: “Basically, a guy is having an affair with his boss’s wife. They’re finishing up after a night of sex, and she goes towards the window to smoke a cigarette, and she sees a murder outside her window. She sees the killer, and they call the police, but she can’t be there because she’s the boss’s wife. So she tells all of her information to [the man she’s sleeping with], and he becomes the witness. But he never saw the guy out the window, he was in the bathroom. And so, he’s suddenly now the sole witness for this guy who’s a serial killer charged with killing all these women all over town. Of course, he gets caught in the lie, and so the serial killer comes after him.”
Sounds like fun. The writer also states how he plans to take more elements of Anne Holden’s novel THE WITNESSES than Hanson’s film, the novel being what THE BEDROOM WINDOW is based on. Obviously the film has similarities to both Alfred Hitchcock’s REAR WINDOW and more recently D.J. Caruso’s DISTURBIA but I’m sure Williamson will add some twists of his own in there. He plans to pen THE BEDROOM WINDOW somewhere between SCREAM 4 and SCREAM 5 so it may be a little while until we hear more on this one. As always though we’ll keep you updated.
