If you’re a fan of genre video games then you should know about DANTE’S INFERNO. INFERNO is a game coming out in February based on part one of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem THE DIVINE COMEDY. You people probably already know this… One thing you might not know is that there’s a DANTE’S INFERNO movie in the works as well!
Alright maybe you knew that as well. One thing you don’t know is that Visceral Games have just snagged a writer to pen the screenplay. Not just any writer either. For this kind of subject you’d need a writer that can get the job done. So how about the Academy Award nominated screenwriter of MONSTER’S BALL? Yeah that’ll work. That man is Will Rokos.
That works for me! What do you guys think? Anyone else out there better for the job? You liking this choice? I’ve always been very intrigued by THE DIVINE COMEDY but never had the chance to really check it out. So needless to say I’m definitely intrigued by DANTE’S INFERNO. Executive producer Jonathan Knight had the following to say to News Blaze:
“The task of adapting a revered and classic piece of literature for the gaming medium was a tremendous challenge. Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece forms the foundation of the game’s plot, but Will’s take on the Dante/Beatrice story brought the necessary conflict and action that made the material really work dramatically. It was an enormous thrill to partner on the script with someone as creative and talented as Will.”
Will Rokos adds: “”Taking such a naturally rich and deep universe and adapting for the video game has been one of the most interesting and challenging projects I’ve worked on. I really got into re-imagining Dante as a flawed hero with a dark past, and his determination to save the love of his life from a terrible fate. It was a truly unique experience to re-create one man’s hell, one circle at a time.”
