So back in 1986 director extraordinaire David Cronenberg remade a 1958 movie called THE FLY. Cronenberg’s film has since become a classic. Well it’s been over 20 years… so why not remake that one as well? Sure let’s go for it!
But here’s the kicker… It seems Cronenberg himself will be doing this remake as well. Over 20 years later remaking your own remake? Don’t think we’ve seen this one yet. The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Biz Blog broke the news that Cronenberg will be directing and possibly writing the remake for Fox.
This comes as quite a shock considering Cronenberg has said before how he would want nothing to do with a remake of his film. Guess money talks huh? Or great directors just change their minds sometimes… Either or. Well unfortunately that’s all we’ve got for this FLY remake. No word on how closely this remake will follow Cronenberg’s original film, which centered on an eccentric scientist who, after an experiment with teleportation goes awry, is transformed into a fly.
