Well it looks like the UK are ready to cash in on the 3-D horror craze sweeping the world! Well it’s not so much a craze… yet. Today Variety announced that Vertigo Films and Size 9 Productions will be bringing us the first UK 3-D horror flick!
The movie is called ELFIE HOPKINS AND THE GAMMONS and will follow a teen misfit and aspiring detective who lives in a rural village. Her suspicions are aroused when a mysterious family, the Gammons, move into her neighborhood.
Oh you mean THE ‘BURBS? Except without Tom Hanks, Corey Feldman and that crazy cast of nieghbors. I’m really not sure how to feel about this one… is it just me or does it actually sound like a tween version of THE ‘BURBS? Now THE ‘BURBS was awesome! And thankfully hasn’t been remade yet (knock on wood…) so do we really need a knockoff? I’m sure that shite will still stand up against most of the creepy comedies we got floating our way today. Well at least ELFIE has a couple things going for it…
First up the flick will be in 3-D… always a decent selling point. Second it’s starring the voluptuous Jaime Winstone (pictured). ELFIE HOPKINS AND THE GAMMONS is looking at a relatively low budget with Ryan Andrews set to direct. Andrews also co-wrote the script with Riyad Barmania. Size 9 Productions’ Michael Wiggs and Steve Matthews are set to produce.
The only other info we know is that the movie will both be set and filmed in Wales with lensing set to start this Winter. Hopefully we’ll learn more about this one in the months to come so keep it here for updates.
