Has Hollywood really stooped this low? The Hollywood Reporter are dropping word today on yet another remake… on a movie from last year!
Alright maybe I’m being a tad overdramatic. This remake is of an Australian faux documentary called LAKE MUNGO. The original film came from Joel Anderson and was picked up by Paramount Vantage at last year’s American Film Market. It’s about the paranormal events that envelop a grieving family when their teenage daughter apparently dies.
Paramount Vantage have already pegged David Leslie Johnson to write the script for this remake, which will take a more traditional narrative approach over the faux documentary style. Johnson’s latest writing credit is the Vera Farmiga (below) starring OPRHAN, which hits theaters July 24th. Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing along with Arclight Films’ Gary Hamilton and the original film’s producers, David Rapsey and Georgie Nevile.
