So there’s a lot of movies out there about possessed little kids. It’s practically it’s own sub-genre. Now are you as sick of these flicks as me? If you are… then I’ve got something refreshing for you today! I’m talking about Jaume Collet-Serra’s ORPHAN. You see… ORPHAN has all the parts to be one of those run of the mill possessed kid flicks… but it swerves at just the right time. From what I can tell… this little girl is just tapped, not possessed.. and that’s awesome.
Let me rewind a little. ORPHAN is about a husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be. Nice. Not to mention the fact that Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga (below) play the couple, and those two are all kinds of great. Now the news today on ORPHAN is that the trailer for the flick just popped up over in our videos section. You can go ahead and scope it out below.
Now after watching the trailer… and reading up a little on ORPHAN… I can’t help but feel it’s practically a remake of THE GOOD SON except with a little girl instead of Macaulay Culkin. Oh… that’s no difference? Ouch. But seriously, ORPHAN reminded me a lot of THE GOOD SON except ORPHAN looks to have a lot more plot going for it with the whole hospital thing. Now is more plot a good thing? We’ll find out July 24 when ORPHAN hits the big screen. In the meantime go ahead and check out the trailer below and keep it here for any other ORPHAN updates.
