Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard are really going to town with THE CABIN IN THE WOODS. Whedon gloats it’s a horror film unlike we’ve ever seen before and the duo are keeping everything underwraps. So what is THE CABIN IN THE WOODS? Well nobody knows… but we do know some of the cast!
It’s already been announced that recent Academy Award nominee Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford have both signed on. And we heard about the Asian schoolgirl casting call. Whether that’s true or not who knows… but we do have some solid news today on five other names joining the film!
Word coming from The Hollywood Reporter has Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth (above), Anna Hutchison (below), Fran Kranz, and Jesse Williams all joining CABIN IN THE WOODS. There’s the good word. Whedon and Goddard penned the ‘genre-tweaking’ screenplay with Goddard set to direct. Here’s Whedon describing the casting:
“Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding. Each of the ‘kids’ is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we’ve corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can’t wait to harm them.”
Hmm. Alright then. What the hell is going on? If Whedon and Goddard’s plan was to get people intrigued by this secrecy I think it’s working. The film has a release date of February 5, 2010 and is currently filming. We’ll be keeping a close eye on THE CABIN IN THE WOODS and will hopefully be updating you all on an actual synopsis soon.
