So it seems there’s an Edgar Allen Poe adaptation I knew nothing about. It’s called EDGAR ALLEN POE’S LIGEIA and we last gave you all an update way back in April. Am I the only one that completely missed this flick? In case I am, let me give you all the rundown.
Here’s the full synopsis from the flick’s official site: Successful writer and scholar Jonathan Merrick falls under the spell of the irresistible, bewitchingly beautiful Ligeia. She’s fighting a fatal illness and she will stop at nothing to defeat death, her one true enemy. She steals other people’s souls and on her quest to immortality she tricks Jonathan into supporting her work, breaking him apart from his fiance Rowena and pulling him into her dark, mysterious world. They settle down in an old manor by the Black Sea where Liegeia’s everlasting presence slowly drives Jonathan to madness…
Awesome. The script was adapted by John Shirley with Michael Staininger directing. It stars Wes Bentley, Kaitlin Doubleday, Eric Roberts, Michael Madsen, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Mackenzie Rosman, Sofya Skya, Joel Lewis, and Christa Campbell (below). Now Wes Bentley kicked all kinds of ass in P2 so I’m already sold with just him starring, nevermind the sweet premise and the groovy trailer over at the official site.
That’s actually what this update today is about. The flick’s Official Website has gone up with a bunch of goodies. I’m talking cast and crew lists, a poem from Poe’s original story, a whole mess of stills, and the formentioned trailer. I’ve thrown up a few of the stills below, just click through over here to check out the rest. I just noticed that freaky little chick running towards the castle door on the main page… spooky. We’ve also got a look at the poster for the film, which you can see above. No word on a release date yet, so keep it here for updates.
