If your a fan of the XBOX 360 game GEARS OF WAR, chances are you know about the sequel hitting stores next month. You probably also know that there’s a movie version of GEARS coming to us via director Len Wiseman.
It’s no secret that video-game-to-movie adaptations rarely work, but dare I say I’m excited for GEARS OF WAR? Wiseman doesn’t have a huge list of credits to his name, actually he only has three: UNDERWORLD, UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION, and LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD. While I’m not a huge fan of the UNDERWORLD franchise, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD is nearly perfect so I’ve got faith in Wiseman to bring us a decent GEARS.
MTV recently got the chance to talk to GEARS screenwriter Chris Morgan, who spilled some news on what we can expect in regards to the villains. Will we be seeing Corpsers, Seeders, Berserkers and the like:
“I don’t think you would want to see a movie of this game without them in it… If I have anything to do with it, you absolutely will. .. No doubt it is going to be a big movie.”
To read up on a bit more just head right over here. GEARS follows a rag-tag group of soldiers as they battle their way through a war involving the underground Locusts. Morgan mentioned how GEARS will be live action with a mix of CGI and special effects for the villains and battle scenes. So who do you think will play Marcus? What about The Rock?
