Only one thing about my childhood ranks above GHOSTBUSTERS… and that’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. Fresh off the news that there’s a new live-action TURTLE flick on the way comes the juicy word from Variety that another installment of GHOSTBUSTERS is officially in the works!
And I’m talking a live-action, ghost zapping, ghost with the munchie movie! Not a video game, not a CGI flick, and not a script sitting in Dan Aykroyd’s sock drawer. This is the real deal.
Columbia Pictures signed a couple impressive names today to develop a script for the next GHOSTBUSTER adventure. Those names are Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.
Now the duo are currently co-executive producers on THE OFFICE and are the ones beyond upcoming films YEAR ONE and BAD TEACHER. All smart, witty comedy. Perfect! And get this… they’re script will be off the basis that the whole gang will be back! Apparently Columbia Pictures are heading into this under the impression that Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson are all down to go!
This doesn’t really surprise me considering the rumors that’ve been floating around for months. Mainly the rumor that the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS video game, which stars the voices of the original cast, got all the guys pumped and wanting a new GHOSTBUSTERS flick.
Now mind you… apparently none of the casting is even close to official. Nobody will be signed until the script is finished but I think it’s pretty safe to get our hopes up…
Who you gonna call? Her!
