Early last month Mike told you all about CELL 213. In case you missed it, CELL 213 is a new thriller coming from BOOGEYMAN director Stephen Kay. Here’s how the synopsis reads:
Cell 213 becomes home to Michael Gray a cocky young attorney after a gruesome twist of circumstance lands him in the South River State Penitentiary, framed for the murder of an incarcerated client. Unnatural forces are causing prisoners to ‘off’ themselves at abnormal rates and Michael soon discovers that matters of guilt and innocence are not as cut and dry as he would like to believe trapped in this nightmarish cell.
Alright.. now that your caught up, let’s give you all an update with the casting for this flick. According to Bloody Disgusting, three names have just been announced in connection with CELL 213. Eric Balfour (above), Michael Rooker, and Deborah Valente (below).
So there you have it. Now Balfour will be playing the lead but doesn’t really mean much to me, Rooker on the other hand is awesome in any role and Deborah Valente isn’t looking too bad at all. Stephen Kay also spoke a little on what we can expect from CELL 213:
“There’s a certain inherent “horror” in a prison itself. Our goal is to keep the fear and claustrophobia of the real prison life and add to it a deep, psychological terror. The more honest we can keep this world, the more compelling the horror will be. This is a “haunted house” that you really can’t run from.”
Now I love a good psychological flick that’ll mess with my head, and the prospect of a dude trapped in a prison where people are killing themselves left and right definately has potential… but I’m not getting my hopes up. Once we hear anything else on CELL 213, we’ll pass it along.
