Just last week I gave you all an update on Matthew Vaughn’s KICK-ASS. The update had Christopher Mintz-Plasse joining the cast, more commonly known as McLovin. We also got an update on how Vaughn has to make the film with money out of his own pocket, seeing how several studios turned down the project when Vaughn refused to tune down the violence. Brilliant!
Today we see more of the cast rounded out. Aaron Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca (below), and Nicolas Cage (above) have all apparently signed on according to The Hollywood Reporter. Here’s the synopsis for a better idea: A high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.
Johnson will be playing Dave with Fonseca playing his love interest, even though Fonseca’s character thinks Dave is gay. Cage will be playing a former cop who’s got a vendetta with a druglord. Cage’s daughter, whom his character trains to be a lethal weapon, will be played by Chloe Moretz. McLovin is set to play Red Mist, the angry teen son of a mobster who tries to find and uncover Kick-Ass.
So there’s the cast rundown. KICK-ASS is of course based on the graphic novel by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita Jr.. I’ve made it no secret that I’m a fan of Nick Cage’s, although not so much in the popcorn movies he’s been tackling. I can’t wait to see him in KICK-ASS, seeing how this one is looking to be a gritty, violent flick.
Shooting is set to start this fall in London. We’ll keep you updated once we hear more.
