Yesterday The Arrow gave you a look at the newest image from FRIDAY THE 13TH. An image that, chances are, any fan of the franchise had already seen. Well today we’ve got more updates on the FRIDAY THE 13TH front… but not entirely concerning the ‘re-imagining.’
Today something caught my eye over at Dread Central. Apparently there’s a FRIDAY THE 13TH Documentary in the works regarding the entire franchise. Now for some reason I’m getting the feeling this’ll be much better than anything we had on the box set.
The documentary is called HIS NAME WAS JASON: THE LEGACY OF FRIDAY THE 13TH and it’s set to air February 2009 on Starz. Obviously this is the same month the new film is released, so it’s only logical to think this documentary is some sort of media tool for the flick… nothing wrong with that, especially if the doc ends up kicking ass!

Which is what we’re hoping. The doc comes from Anchor Bay Entertainment with the editor of CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES, Daniel Farrands, directing the feature. The dude obviously knows what he’s working with, so that’s a good sign. The same producing team behind HALLOWEEN: 25 YEARS OF TERROR (which The Arrow himself was featured on) will be behind HIS NAME WAS JASON.
The documentary will feature many names in the genre community talking about Jason and his loveable franchise. This sounds nothing short of awesome to me. I’m even digging the title. Hopefully they can score some big names that meant a lot to the franchise. We’ll keep you updated on anything we hear for HIS NAME WAS JASON: THE LEGACY OF FRIDAY THE 13TH.
Let’s not forget that this ‘re-imagining’ stars the gorgeous Amanda Righetti
