One thing that’s kind of obvious about us AITH guys… we dig horror. One thing that’s still pretty obvious is that we love some gritty action flicks that have us sitting back watching bullets fly and explosions…. exploding.
So there’s some pretty sweet news coming from Ain’t It Cool News today. Now granted… I’m not sure if this is for sure or anything, but AICN recently scored word on who’s up to direct the adaptation of the comic SGT. ROCK.
According to producer Joel Silver, he thinks he’ll be working with Guy Ritchie on SGT. ROCK. That’s some damn interesting news. I really dig Guy Ritchie’s work, mainly SNATCH and LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELLS. Those are some gritty, entertaining flicks that you can’t get anywhere else. Maybe it’s actually because of Vinnie Jones… but still.
So that covers Guy Ritchie… now what’s SGT. ROCK? If your like me, you have never heard of this old school comic. So that means your in for a treat! The SGT. ROCK comics spanned from 1959 to 1988 and it followed a badass World War II sergeant. That’s the just I got from Wikipedia… and I’m sold from just that!
SGT. ROCK seems like a pretty gritty comic with plenty of action and all around brutality to keep me happy.
This SGT. ROCK movie actually came about in the early 90s, with Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star and a couple different scripts being penned, one from John Milius and the other from David Peoples. Obviously all those plans were thrown out.
Joel Silver is now aiming to bring this comic to the big screen with a script from John Cox.
So Guy Ritchie doing a flick about a chiseled World War II soldier… yay or nay? I’m definately for this one. We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything else on SGT. ROCK.
Ritchie is good friends with Madonna… who in turn is very good friends with Christina Aguilera.
