Love it or hate it, last summer’s motel horror flick VACANCY has warrented a prequel, most likely a direct to DVD one at that.
I first told you about said prequel back in October, and Eric updated you a couple months ago with the fact that Eric Bross, who’s got a bunch of TV credits, will be directing.
Well Moviehole.net dropped word today that David Moscow has joined the cast along with Agnes Bruckner, Nelson Lee, Brian Klugman, and Gwendoline Yeo.
IMDB also has Christopher Allen Nelson, Beau Billingslea, Joe Reegan, Arjay Smith, and Lola Davidson starring, among others.
The synopsis for the VACANCY PREQUEL reads: When Jessica, her fiancé Caleb and Caleb’s buddy Tanner check into the lonely Meadow View Inn in the middle of rural nowhere, they have no idea that the motel is run by a homicidal maniac and two vicious greedheads who are making a bloody dollar by selling snuff films on the black market…
According to IMDB, Bruckner (below) will be playing Jessica while Arjay Smith stands in as Tanner. Bruckner’s genre credits include BLOOD & CHOCOLATE, THE WOODS, and VENOM. Smith has been in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW along with a bunch of TV stuff.
From the looks of things, the great Frank Whaley and partner Ethan Embry aren’t anywhere near this prequel yet, and in my opinion, this won’t work without them. How can you do a prequel to a horror flick like VACANCY without the main villans?
We’ll keep you updated on any more news for the VACANCY PREQUEL.

Are they? Good to know.
