The last we updated you on the HELLRAISER remake, the duo of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton were pegged to pen the script.
Well we’ve got another update for you all today via the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting. Apparently the directing duo of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are OUT! That’s right, word coming from B-D is that Dimension is in the market for a new director(s).
There’s actually no word yet as to why the duo bolted. Considering the two were the geniuses behind INSIDE, this gave fans some hope for this remake. At first the duo was even set to write the script, but apparently their draft didn’t meet expectations so Dunston and Melton were given the task.
I can’t help but speculate Dimension wants something more .. what’s the word… viewer friendly? Considering first that INSIDE is a twisted flick that can’t help but get appreciated wherever it goes, then that Melton and Dunstan are the guys behind the scripts of FEAST and SAW 4. It looks like they want to go a more familiar route, which may not exactly be the best place to go with a HELLRAISER remake.
Whatever the case, the film is without a director. It’s already been put on the shelf thanks to the strike, green lit again, had a change in writers, and now this. I wonder if we’ll ever actually get to see this?
