We’ve been keeping you updated on the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer winning novel THE ROAD ever since it was announced. Most recently we’ve slapped you with a ballpark release date and the casting news of Kodi Smit-McPhee and Guy Pearce.
Well B-D is reporting on a rumor that Mr. Robert Duvall has joined the film. That’d be another plus on this already impresive cast. I’ll let Viggo Mortensen’s Oscar nomination speak for itself. And Charlize Theron (below) needs no hype. Plus you throw in Guy Pearce (right) and Robert Duvall, along with a Pultizer prize winning story and we’ve got ourselves a ride!
I’m stoked about the news of Guy Pearce joining. I’ve been a fan of his ever since THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, and after watching MEMENTO for the first time yesterday, I’m now a big fan of his.
Mind you, Duvall joining the cast is just a rumor thus far. If there’s any backbone to it, expect an official announcement soon.
THE ROAD centers on a man and his son as they travel a post-apocalyptic world. Civilization destroyed and most life gone, the duo must try and survive while watching out for roaming cannibals.
Joe Penhall penned the screenplay while John Hillcoat is directing. Shooting is set to start this month in Pittsburgh, Oregon, and Louisiana. We go down THE ROAD Fall/Winter 2008.
