This is the first I’m hearing of BLACK DEATH and dare I say we have something original coming our way?
I’m actually pretty intrigued by the premise. BLACK DEATH is about a band of brothers whose quest is to hunt down a necromancer against the backdrop of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England.
It’s set in an ‘apocalyptic medieval world’ and has Geoff Sax at the helm. Sax’s most recent genre flick was WHITE NOISE, which people have their opinions for.
Well The Hollywood Reporter dropped three names today that have signed on to the cast. Lena Headey (pictured), Sean Bean, and Rupert Friend. Headey of course is from TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and 300 while Sean Bean is a genre regular with stuff like THE HITCHER and SILENT HILL.
According to Hollywood Reporter: Friend will play a young monk sent to investigate rumors of people being brought back to life, while Bean plays a mercenary priest who arrives in the same village. Against the backdrop of the peaceful village lies a pact with the forces of darkness, orchestrated by the village ruler (Headey).
As I stated, BLACK DEATH will be directed by Geoff Sax with a script from Dario Poloni. It’s produced by Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae of Ecosse Films and co-produced by Jens Meurer of Egoli Tossell. It’s slated to start filming soon in Germany and the UK.
The gorgeous Lena Headey is becoming quite a genre star.
