I’ve never heard of CHILDHOOD’S END. And frankly, I’m kind of surprised I haven’t. From what I’m reading, it’s a groundbreaking sci-fi novel.

In case you haven’t heard of it either, MTV offers the synopsis as: Mankind is visited by aliens who help end wars, prolong life, and generally foster happiness for all humanity. Their appearance brings forth a new age in human evolution, as children born after their arrival begin to exhibit signs of telekinesis and telepathy. They help usher in nothing short of a glorious utopia on Earth.

And they also make it a point to explain the alien’s description… they look exactly like the devil himself, or what we perceive the devil to look like. Red with horns, hooves, and a curvy tail. I still say the devil looks exactly like Al Pacino. Thank DEVIL’S ADVOCATE for that one.

Well MTV is reporting there may be a chance for CHILDHOOD’S END to hit the big screen. Director Kimberly Peirce has expressed her interest in it and even says there’s already a draft she’s hoping Universal picks up. She even describes how big the movie would be:

“If you’re going to launch something that big you need a big movie star. It’s probably not less than a 70 million dollar movie. You go to that movie with a certain appetite for spectacle.”

That sounds pretty big. I’m definately intrigued. Head on over to MTV to read up some more on it.

Don’t think I need a reason to put a pic of Rachel Bilson up.
