The last news we brought you about DEATH RACE was that the film would be taking place inside a prison and that, due to a prior engagement called the Sitges Film Festival, The Arrow was not able to join the cast of DEATH RACE. Of course The Arrow going head to head with Jason Statham would’ve definately been something to see, but regardless, I’m sure DEATH RACE will still rock.
Well today we got a look at the first still for the flick, which can be seen above. It shows Jason Statham all calm, driving a juiced up car. You can click the pic above for a bigger version. Of course DEATH RACE is a remake of 1975 film DEATH RACE 2000, which starred Sylvester Stallone and was directed by Paul Bartel. This remake is set in a future version of America, a prisoner who is weeks away from being released is forced by his warden to compete in a brutal, deadly car race alongside his fellow inmates.
It’s directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and comes from a script by J.F. Lawton. It stars Jason Statham, Ian McShane, Joan Allen, Jacob Vargas, Robert LaSardo, Natalie Martinez (looking amazing below), Frederick Koehler, Max Ryan, and Janaya Stephens. It’s set to hit theaters September 26, 2008. We’ll keep you updated on any more DEATH RACE news.
