We all know most fans’ take on remakes. Or ‘re-imaginings’ as they’re now being called, but we all have to accept them. They just keep coming, like the crabs, we just can’t seem to shake them. Hollywood is remaking everything they possibly can, one of those remakes being FRIDAY THE 13TH. Now arguably, this may actually be a ‘re-imagining’ seeing how this new film will center on Jason Voorhees, whereas the original FRIDAY THE 13TH did not.
Last month Ammon told you all who the writers are going to be. They are of course Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the same dudes behind FREDDY VS. JASON. Well Bloody-Disgusting scored some news on who the director for the film is going to be! Drum roll? Nah, it’s Marcus Nispel.
Marcus Nispel is no stranger to remaking the classics. He has two theatrical films to his name. The remake of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and PATHFINDER. The TCM remake wasn’t bad in my book. Then again, any movie that has Jessica Biel running around with a wet tanktop is great in my eyes. I’m staying optomistic about this news, who knows right?
Plus, the good news is Damian Shannon and Mark Swift’s script will focus on Jason Voorhees — who will wear the infamous mask and kill — and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake. Great news in my book. Shannon and Swift had to adjust to a Freddy type of film for FREDDY VS. JASON, interesting to see where they’re going to go with a lone Jason flick.
