That picture to the right never gets old. Fearnet is reporting on a very interesting bit of news. Joining the ranks of greats like Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, and Christa Campbell (below) in 2001 MANIACS: BEVERLY HELLBILLYS will be… Pee-Wee Herman? Oh that’s right. I wouldn’t joke about that. Writer/director Tim Sullivan recently told Fearnet:

“I recently ran into an old friend of mine from my MTV days, Paul Ruebens, at Comic Con and it turns out he’s a huge fan of Maniacs and was asking to be killed in the sequel. So we are going to work something out to get Pee-Wee Herman in the Maniacs film.”

That’s some very interesting news. Now I’m not sure if he means Paul Ruebens (above) as a random character or actually as his Pee-Wee Herman character. The latter of that would be something to see. Last I heard of Pee-Wee, Ruebens was trying to get Pee-Wee’s Playhouse picked up again and another movie off the ground… don’t ask me how I know that.

2001 MANIACS: BEVERLY HELLBILLYS is of course the sequel to sleeper hit 2001 MANIACS. 2001 MANIACS: BEVERLY HELLBILLYS is directed by Tim Sullivan and written by Sullivan and Chris Kobin. It stars Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, Christa Campbell, Lin Shaye, Giuseppe Andrews, Courtney Peldon, and Ashley Peldon. According to IMDB, the plot is: After the sheriff refuses to cover up any further for the maniacs causing all the missing persons in the area, they’re forced to hit the road in what’s dubbed the “Pleasant Valley Traveling Road Show,” where the maniacs head across country in hopes of gathering more victims. We’ll follow a young TV crew called the “Road Rascals” as they find themselves mixed up with another one of the maniacs’ deadly festivals. It’s slated for release in October 2008.
