Now that the HARRY POTTER books are finished, everyone and their third removed cousin are trying to pick up on it’s success. Left and right we’re hearing about young-adult fantasy novel franchises being optioned for film, and today there’s been another.
The Hollywood Reporter is reprting that Celtic Rose Entertainement have picked up the rights for LEVEN THUMPS, a young-adult fantasy series by Obert Skye. LEVEN THUMPS is a 14-year-old boy who learns that his fate is to save the ailing world of Foo, a world that allows mankind to dream and imagine.
The deal with Celtic includes film rights to LEVEN THUMPS AND THE GATEWAY TO FOO, LEVEN THUMPS AND THE WHISPERED SECRET, and LEVEN THUMPS AND THE EYES OF THE WANT. Along with those 3, there are also two more novels planned, which are also part of the deal.
Celtic Rose Entertinament founder Randall Rosa had this to say: “Our goal is to discover and develop properties that have engaging stories with ambitious visual elements. ‘Leven Thumps’ is such a perfect fit for the company with its strong story line and visual challenges.”
I’ve never heard of LEVEN THUMPS, but with the right director behind it, this could be a pretty cool franchise. Hopefully a director is announced soon, we’ll keep you updated on any news for LEVEN THUMPS. Meanwhile you can check out the official website for the novels over here.
