[REC] news

A couple bits of news involving the Spanish film [REC] and it’s American remake.

Firstly, 24Framespersecond dropped the news that the official website for [REC] is now online. And a brand new trailer can also be found on the website (looks like the only thing that can be found on the site so far). Now I don’t understand Spanish in the least, so I have to go on the visual appearence of the website and trailer alone, and both seem pretty sweet. A lot of good things have been making the rounds on the net about [REC], it’s about a young female reporter who is following the local fire department. They get a call from an old woman in danger, and once there, the woman sinks her into into some of their flesh. And that’s just the beginning. It’s written and directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. In Spain it opens November 23, 2007. Check out the official site over here.

You know how I said this one has been getting some good praise around the net? Well apparently it’s so good it’s already warrented a remake here in the States, despite the fact that it hasn’t been released yet. Now that’s not surprising, seeing how Hollywood wants to remake everything and anything. Well there’s also news rolling in from Bloody Disgusting about the remake. Apparently it’s dropping the title [REC] and picking up QUARANTINE. Yeah, the [REC] remake is now titled QUARANTINE.

You know, this news doesn’t tickle me in the slightest, I just want to see this bad boy (the original). John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle are set to direct the remake. We’ll keep you updated on any news about either film.
