No, not the film that’s been talked about for a couple years. I’m talking about a comic. Fangoria is reporting that Dark Horse Comics plans to remake the first EVIL DEAD film in comic form.
Dark Horse are releasing a four issue mini-series based on the cult classic film. Although this whole thing in itself is great, something even more interesting is that it won’t be a complete retelling. They’ve hired writer Mark Verheiden and artist John Bolton to revamp the movie in comic book form. This means altering certain scenes (or getting rid of them altogether) and even adding new scenes. Now THE EVIL DEAD is a classic, one of the best, and if this news I’m reporting was about the movie, I’d be pretty bummed. But the fact that it’s a comic doesn’t have my feathers ruffled as much. THE EVIL DEAD films are some of the most unique horror flicks I’ve ever seen, so it’ll be interesting to see how they convert it to the comic and what they’ll add.
Now mind you, this has nothing to do with the whole ASH V MARVEL ZOMBIES deal, but is just as sweet, if not more-so. Anyway, the first issue of this four issue series is going to be hitting shelves the first week of 2008, so make sure to check it out.
