THE X-FILES 2 finally getting underway? I’m joking right? Get ready for it, because it’s happening…. then again, this one has supposedly been happening since 2001! But we’re on the right track.
David Duchovny himself has recently dropped a couple of great little tidbits over at Movieweb. They recently sat down with the actor to ask about the DVD release of THE X-FILES TV series.
David Duchovny: Well, I had always kind of wanted to segue the television show into a movie franchise. I never really wanted the show to die or to quit it. I got tired of the grind of making a network television show but I never tired of the character or the possibilities of the show. I would love it if we were able to expand it into a movie franchise because I love playing the character and I love the show.
When asked about THE X-FILES 2, he had this to say:
David Duchovny: It’s at… the script is written and as far as I know we’re all trying to shoot in December at some point. We would all love it if we could keep it a secret and just give everybody a fresh experience of not knowing what the movie’s about. I know if I was a fan of the show I would kind of be excited to be surprised.
So there you have it. Take it for what you want, but according to Mr. Duchovny, the movie will be underway this December. Of course Duchovny would be reprising his famous role of Fox Mulder.
From what I’ve heard in the past, Gillian Anderson is also slated to star, reprising her role as Dana Scully. At one point Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish were also signed on to star as well. Cris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, two men behind a lot of THE X-FILES past, wrote a script a few years back. From what I’ve heard, the script centered on a stand-alone X-FILES story, not having anything to do with aliens but instead centered on the supernatural. Now obviously everything in this last paragraph is a toss up as it’s all news that’s years old. We’ll keep you updated on any recent news we hear on THE X-FILES 2.
